What is being decided?

Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Plan of management relating to dogs and cats 2024-2029.

Background

Council has many responsibilities in the application and enforcement of the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 (the Act). This includes the requirement for Council to prepare a plan relating to the management of dogs and cats within its area (section 26A of the Act).

The plan identifies strategies and actions that encourages responsible pet ownership and ensure that people and pets integrate safely and harmoniously within our community. The plan also includes provisions for parks where dogs are prohibited or allowed to exercise off leash.

Council staff prepared the draft plan that was considered by Council at a meeting held on the 14 May 2024 and we are now seeking feedback from the community.
