Have your say on the Mount Burr Town Entrance Signage design

What's being decided?

Wattle Range Council is seeking community input in selecting a design for the town entrance signage for Mount Burr. Two concepts have been shortlisted as the preferred options and you are invited to submit your preference.

Background

The need for improved entrance signage which beautified the entrances to the town, was highlighted by the community in the process of developing the Mount Burr Town Plan. Funding for the signage was allocated in the Council's 2020/21 budget.

At a community consultation session held at the Mount Burr Football Club in April of 2022 a list of ideas were collated. This list outlining the community's vision, along with some concepts provided by a Mount Burr resident, then formed part of the brief for the development of concept designs.

Five (5) design concepts were developed and presented to Council at its meeting of 8 August 2023. Two (2) preferred options were shortlisted at the meeting and are now subject to community consultation.

Option A

This option features painted aluminum panels in combination with laser-cut weathered steel, with pin-fixed painted aluminum letters. The top coloured panel will be positioned behind the weathered steel, while the bottom coloured panel will sit on top of the steel, creating a striking and visually appealing design.

Option B

This option features laser-cut weathered steel complemented by painted aluminum letters that will be securely pin-fixed. Additionally, there will be a separate printed panel displaying the Council logo.

This consultation is now CLOSED.

Feedback was received until 5 pm on Friday, 15 September 2023.

Next Steps

Following consideration of the community consultation at the October Council meeting, the preferred design will be fabricated and installed.

Council staff have been in communication with the local primary school about then designing and installing some gardens around the signs.
