What is being decided?

Council is currently considering a proposal to close and sell to the adjoining landowner a portion of unmade road reserve (walkway) referred to as Lot 41 Lossie Road (Lane), Millicent. The formal process will be conducted pursuant to the provisions of the Roads (Opening & Closing) Act 1991.

Background

Council has received a request from a landholder seeking to purchase a portion of unmade road reserve (walkway) referred to as Lot 41 Lossie Road (Lane), Millicent. The proposal is to undertake a formal road closure of the unmade walkway and merge with the adjoining property being 133 Williams Road, Millicent (CT5782/594).

To enable Council to sell the road reserve (walkway), a formal process under the Roads (Opening and Closing) Act, 1991 is required to be undertaken.

Council considered the proposal at its meeting held 8 August 2023 and resolved to approve in principle the closure of the unmade road subject to several conditions including, public consultation being undertaken.

Feedback was received until 5 pm on Thursday, 9 November 2023.
