What is being decided?

Council is seeking community feedback on an application from the Beachport Golf Club seeking a variation to an existing lease over an area of Council property (Community Land).

Background

Pursuant to Section 202 of the Local Government Act, 1999 Council may grant a lease or licence over community land, subject to carrying out the relevant steps set out in its Community Engagement Policy.

Council has received an application seeking a variation to an existing leased area of Council property (Community Land) as set out below:

Applicant:

Beachport Golf Club Inc.

Variation of Leased Property Description:

Portion of Allotment 382 Golf Course Road, Beachport - Refer to plan contained within report (area marked in red – “Area D”) (Subject Land)

Term of Lease:

Expiry 16 February 2035

Lease Fee:

Included within existing Lease Fee $50 per annum

Purpose of Lease:

Recreational Purposes

Council has recently received a formal request from the Beachport Golf Club, seeking to vary the leased area by incorporating the area denoted as “Area D” into the greater leased area currently occupied by the Beachport Golf Club for recreational purposes.

The subject land is Council Owned - Community Land and comprises the former Beachport - Furner Cricket oval area and building. The proposal is to add the subject land to the existing lease where the Lessee would be responsible for all operating expenses and maintenance associated for the term of the existing lease period.

The proposed leased area is that marked in red on the plan below:
