Proposals to lease Community Land
Have your say on Council's intention to issue ground leases of land that are under Counci's care, control and management.
What's being decided?
Council intends to issue ground leases for a term of ten years with a right of renewal for a further ten years, to the following groups over the community land as described below that are under the Council’s care, control and management.
- Furner Sports Club Inc - lease over portion of Section 166, Hundred of Kennion
- Southend Progress Association - lease over Section 407, Hundred of Rivoli Bay
- Nangwarry Football Club Inc - lease over portion of Allotment 1 in DP55559 and whole of Allotment 188, Town of Nangwarry
Background
Pursuant to Section 202 of the Local Government Act, 1999 Council may grant a lease or licence over community land subject to carrying out the relevant steps set out in its Community Engagement Policy.
Council is intending to issue ground leases for a term of ten years with a right of renewal for a further ten years, to the following community groups over the community land that are under the Council’s care, control and management.
The proposed leases are in line with Council's Community Land Management Plan for Active Recreation Reserves (Crown Land).
Furner Sports Club Inc for recreation purposes. | Southend Progress Association for the purpose of recreation and associated activities. | Nangwarry Football Club Inc for recreation purposes. |

Invitation for public comment
Public comment is invited concerning the proposals to lease in the form of a written submission.
Written submissions marked "LEASE OF COMMUNITY LAND" can be addressed to Wattle Range Council and can be:

Feedback will be received until 5:00 pm, Friday 22 August 2025.
