Beachport Sandcastle & Beach Art Competition
Self-taught Sandcastle Maker, Dasun Aitchison creation This is your chance to get creative on the sand!
We invite people of all ages to take part in Beachport’s Sandcastle & Sand Art Competition. Head to the sandy shores of our beautiful beaches and let the coastline inspire you.
Build a classic castle, craft an intricate design, mandala, or create a unique artwork that reflects what the beach means to you. Use sand as your canvas and feel free to include natural or sustainable materials to bring your masterpiece to life.
Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, skill, and use of colour, so let your ideas shine. Have fun on your own or team up with family and friends to make something truly special.
Once finished, simply photograph your creation and upload it here on our Engage page to enter the competition.
Great Prizes to be won:
- Overall Winner Prize: Enjoy 2 nights’ cabin accommodation at the Southern Ocean Tourist Park — the perfect Beachport getaway! (Subject to availability)
- Other category Prizes: A selection of gift vouchers from local Beachport businesses.
Beachport Sandcastle & Sand Art Competition – Conditions of Entry
- Supporting local: To be eligible, each entry must be accompanied by a receipt from a local Beachport business (dated during the competition period). Simply upload a copy of your receipt along with your photo when you enter.
- Entries close: Tuesday 27th of January 2026. Photographs of your sand creations must be uploaded through the Engage page. Winners will be notified the first week of February 2026.
- Sharing your creativity: By entering, you give Wattle Range Council permission to share your photos to celebrate Beachport in future marketing and promotions. We’ll always credit the creator wherever possible, but no payment is offered.
- Where to create: All sand art and sandcastles must be built on a beach within 15 km of the Beachport township.
- People in photos: If your masterpiece includes people in the photo, it’s your responsibility to make sure they’re happy to be included. Uploading a photo with people in it will be taken as their consent for it to be shared.
- Who can enter: The competition is open to all ages, both amateur and professional creators.
- How many entries: Each person may enter up to 4 creations.
- What we’re looking for: Judges will be keeping an eye out for creativity, originality, skill, and clever use of colour and sustainable materials.
- Judging: The judges’ decision is final. But remember, this is all about fun, community, and celebrating our beautiful beaches.
- Materials: Please stick to natural and/or sustainable materials. No harmful or unsafe items, thank you!
- Prizes: If prizes are awarded, they cannot be swapped or exchanged for cash.
- Uploads: Photos should be in JPEG or PNG format (under 10MB). Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted.
- Fair play: Wattle Range Council reserves the right to disqualify any entry that doesn’t play by the rules.
- Technical hiccups: Council will not be responsible for technical issues with uploading — so give yourself plenty of time to submit.

The concept of the competition is: CAPTURING WATTLE RANGE
People, Places, Product & Performance
We invite you to capture what Wattle Range means to you: with an emphasis on People, Places, and Product & Performance. Representing the diversity of our Region: From Coast to Border. through your photography, with images having been taken in the preceding two years.
Conditions
1. Entries close Saturday 27th September 2025 PHOTOGRAPHS TO BE SUBMITTED DIGITALLY, and TO BE RECEIVED AT THE MILLICENT LIBRARY, RIDGE TERRACE, MILLICENT.
2. Wattle Range Council reserves the right to use the photographs for the purpose of marketing and promotion and all photographers will be acknowledged.
3. All entries must reflect the “People, Places, Product & Performance” across Wattle Range: and represent the diversity of the Region “Strength and Vision from Coast to Border” PLEASE SEE FURTHER CATEGORY INFORMATION.
4. Images must have been taken within the Wattle Range Council boundaries within the preceding two years.
5. A release form is to be signed if there are people visible in your photograph(s).
6. Competition is open to amateur and professional photographers.
7. Photographers may enter 4 entries per category.
8. Judges decision is final.

Every 250 metres you walk earns you a ticket in the prize draw!
The prize is a Reformer Pilates session for you and 4 friends at Studio Fourteen, Beachport!
Enter the distance you cover each time you walk and your contact details below to claim your tickets.
Prize will be drawn Friday April 4th, 2025, and the winner contacted by phone.

Beachport, Let's Get Moving! ....Is a grass roots health & wellbeing initiative founded through the efforts of Beachport community members, local Mental Health Social Worker Linda Carter Shephard and Physiotherapist Emma Slape supported by The Beachport & Rivoli Bay Lions Club and Wattle Range Council.Regular physical activity is good for us, it has major benefits for health and wellbeing including reducing people’s risk of conditions such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes and improving mental health, wellbeing and quality of life.
